Before I post my favorites this month I would like to thank a couple of people and the first one is An Irish Procrastinator for nominating me for the One lovely blog award .
If anyone needs a good laugh, then she will help you out with that. She has a great style of writing and everyone one needs some humor in their lives, so please stop by for a visit to her site especially if you are having one of those days. Take a break and read away. I have to keep this short so I won’t be participating fully but I still want to thank anyone who nominated me and answer at least one question or in this case, one fact about me.
I once was on TV for a whole year (by mistake) because the movie family did not show up to shoot with my son who was in a morning shot for a local news station. It was a short clip or commercial for an introduction to a morning news show. You know, where happy families are eating breakfast together and people are running into sunsets before the news station starts. Well I asked my husband (who was one of the onset workers) where the “movie mom” was and he said she wasn’t able to make it so I had to fill in, which I was not happy about. Remember I rather be in back of a camera instead of in front. My son who was a baby at the time sat on my lap and ate pancake after pancake because they had to keep re-shooting scenes.
At one point they asked if my son would continue eating pancakes and I said as long as they are sweet he will. Of course he ate mostly with his baby fingers and stabbed with the fork but they got the shot. When it finally aired on TV, there I was every morning with my son on my lap eating pancakes at a local diner. What people didn’t know from the shot was that I was covered in pancake syrup. I went home and took a Silkwood (the movie) shower after that shoot.
I also would like to thank Laura M. Bailey at All the shoes she wore for nominating me for the Mystery bloggers award. Please visit her site as well. She is known for being a Cinderella type and animals love her. That’s always a good sign to me because animals can tell whom the kind ones are.
I think it is so funny that she cleans her home like crazy when company is coming. I drive my family insane doing the same thing in my home. I guess I get nervous and want everything just right.
Here is one question I will answer from her:
Have I ever been to a haunted place-?
Yes, actually twice, once here (An Arizona ghost) and this one comes with an actual ghost orb photo that my son took. The other was in Flagstaff Arizona at a place called Mormon lake.
My husband and I were staying a couple of nights out by the lake in one of their little guest cabins. One night we were down at the main cabin and community center hanging out for a marshmallow roast and decided to ask about the man staying in the cabin next to ours. Every morning, or right before sunset we would always see him in his tiny kitchen window looking over at us in a scowling way. My husband even commented on it once, asking me if I saw a man now and then looking over at our cabin. I said yes but then we never saw him at the same time. Retelling this story at the campfire we got an answer but not the one we were expecting.
“ There is no one else in any of the cabins out by you, we put you out there alone so you could have privacy because you are newlyweds” we were told.
At first my husband and I started laughing, thinking we were just being played with but then when no one else laughed we stopped and said “ Please tell me this is a joke because we still need to walk through the woods at night back to our cabin and your telling me no one is out there but us?”
“ Yep.” was the answer.
Apparently there were a couple cabins out there that had a spooky vibe about them. Most maids refused to clean the tiny rock cabin alone, which was directly in front of our cabin. Some employees said books had fallen over when they were cleaning or doors would close.
We were sandwiched between two haunted cabins, “Great” I said turning to my husband.
This had to be one of those campfire jokes.
Walking back that night through the woods when the campfire was over, my husband and I were spooked for the first time in our lives. We had one little flashlight to get back to our cabin, but I kept thinking of horror movies where the flashlight goes out. I grabbed that flashlight and held on tight trying not to think of things hidden behind the giant pine trees.
If it was a joke that they were all playing, then who was that man my husband and I kept seeing? Was someone using a cabin they weren’t supposed to?
The next morning when there was daylight we walked around the cabin and there really wasn’t anyone there. Looking inside we could see it was clean and ready for the next quest and there was no sign of life inside.
Besides all the cattle that roamed through the lake area, we really were the only guests out in that part of the woods. There are several cabins throughout the place you drive to and our car was the only car where our little pocket of three cabins was. That place gave us some serious goose bumps. We never spent the night there again.
Okay now onto my favorite posts this month.
Mel at decorcraftdesign-simple elegant DIY ring pillows Mother’s Day (USA) is just around the corner, these would make perfect gifts
Beyond the Bounds– for having the courage to write your first poem and share with all us strangers…good for you and it was a good one. My daughter writes poetry, I do not have the courage. My thing is DIY. Everyone has a gift they were given.
Chic Mona-she can make her own clothes, need I write more.
I might try teaching this one in a class up at the little red house. What a great idea. I loved making one for my garden, thanks for sharing. Also that clothespin cross is another craft I like to try. I will never get my projects done with all the cool ideas out there.
Pendantry at wibble-The litany against FB I always felt a little like an outcast because I never joined the Facebook train, after reading this I don’t feel so bad. There are some great people connecting on Face book, just have to find your people I guess. I prefer other ways so I will continue to stay off facebook, for now at least. You know what “they” say…never say never.
An Irish Procrastinator-Ride the waves I should frame this and give it to my husband, he would love it. Secretly I think he wants to be a dolphin. Anything that has to do with the ocean, he is all in.
Edmark M. Law-(learn fun facts)- this made me think of my Uncle’s rock house and the hundreds of books he had stored in it. Looks like a post for me will be coming up.
Koolaidmoms (what’s for dinner?) Lemon cake with lemon cream frosting
Carrot cake is my favorite cake and lemon cake is my second, thanks for the recipe.

Okay, I know that’s a lot but there are some great posts out there. I know I am forgetting some from earlier this month and new ones will have popped up since I wrote this to be posted. So Thank you to all the people I follow or follow me, thanks for sharing. For anyone of my followers who want to participate in the two awards listed above please feel free to do so, I will leave that up to you. I got that idea from Margaret at soulfood (great idea) Happy blogging everyone.
Quick update on the chickens…WE GOT EGGS. It took about 51/2 months to get them, but they are officially laying. Haven’t had time this month to do a full post on the chickens, it has been one of those months. My husband had the biggest smile on his face today when he walked into our kitchen with fresh eggs. The little black and white chicks are growing like crazy but still cute and they are super friendly always greeting us in the morning when we open that back door. Chickens are so funny.
About the photos- Besides the photo of my son as a baby and Mormon Lake the rest come from a garden here in Arizona. The garden is a great place to visit but I would try to visit before our hot summer months.
