Favorite posts this month

I can’t believe we are already in the month of June. The month of May was a busy one for us because it was the last month for my son and his High School years. He graduated and we couldn’t be prouder. Congratulations to my little man, although you are no longer little anymore, you tower over me now.

I also had a little case of writers block this month or what they call a blogging slump. Anyway I think it had to do with the spring and flowers and just wanting to be outside working on my many projects enjoying the weather while I could. It was hard thinking up posts. My mind was on flowers and birds. As I am sure you can tell by all my posts last month. I was busy organizing that garden, transplanting and painting.

I didn’t spend a lot of time online but when I did I tried to keep up with my favorite bloggers. My list of people I follow keeps getting bigger and bigger. Plus this was the month I reached 200 followers. Thank you, all of you who took the time to stop by my site to visit and a big welcome to my new followers this month. You guys keep me going, I love sharing and it is so nice to get your comments, likes and visits, so thank you for that.

So here it is, my favorite posts for the month of May. Hope you guys get a chance to stop by and visit these post:

Favorite great advice posts:

Favorite animal posts and some  more Cinderella moments. There seem to be a lot of Cinderella’s out there.

Laura at all the shoes I wear- https://wordpress.com/read/blogs/142266435/posts/1971

Showtunessal- Just a dog https://wordpress.com/read/blogs/133542003/posts/1082

Also I can’t forget restlessroots (https://wordpress.com/read/blogs/124673962)

She always has an animal photo in every one of her posts. One post was on a turtle, which I have always loved and even had one as a pet that my cousins bought me one year for my birthday. But Restless roots turtle they came across was very scary and apparently those suckers can bite your fingers and toes off. Our desert turtles (actually they aren’t turtles they are called tortoises) are slow and gentle. I’ll take slow and gentle over missing fingers and toes after a swim.

My Cinderella and animal moments this month happened while out hiking, which included lots of little critters. One that looked like a baby dragon. I started taking blocks of ice to lie out on shaded boulders so the little desert animals have little puddles of water. They came from everywhere to sip on those little puddles. I love watching how birds, chipmunks, and squirrels can all hang together when it comes to sharing this precious treat…water. It is very, very dry in our area right now. We need rain desperately. Margaret from soul food …that would be my prayer I ask from you and thank you for doing that for all your followers. I have seen many prayers answered in my life. So please pray for some rain for our desert and forest out here in Arizona, we need it.

Favorite DIY’s this month.

Tracy Joan Reid at CreativeHues- beautiful hand drawn Mother’s Day card.

Mel at decoratecraftdesign- Hydrangea card.

You inspired me Mel to make my own floral card, which I ended up giving to my mother-in-law and she loved it. Thanks for the great idea.

Creative Gardens- painted terra cotta pots https://wordpress.com/read/blogs/114854968/posts/6477

Here are some pots I ended up decorating and painting while I hibernated out in my garden. I am sure my family missed me but they knew where I was…out in the garden painting away. Little tip on the pots, they make great indoor storage containers too. I ended up adding colorful yarn to some of my pots.

If you live in the United States, Dollar tree has $1 terra cotta pots available all the time. Buy a bunch and have a painting party, it will keep the kids busy over the summer at least.

Favorite “just because they made me smile” posts:

Jama at Jama’s Alphabet Soup- a little royal wedding breakfast https://wordpress.com/read/blogs/24940295/posts/37072

It was so adorable how you used paper dolls in your shots. Can’t wait to try those peanut butter and jelly muffins.

Leo the nerdy lion- https://wordpress.com/read/blogs/135008084/posts/1571

Good luck on that book and thanks for the tip on just going for it. Maybe I will try to get some of my unfinished goals finally finished over the summer. Your post has inspired me for sure.

Veronica at Sogna Viaggia AMA https://wordpress.com/read/blogs/133962643/posts/2637

Thank you for sharing your traveling adventures, takes me back to my days of traveling. Your country Italy is a beautiful country that everyone should get a chance to visit. I will call my husband in to read your posts or show me how to translate, he knows a little Italian since his mom is from there and they have many family members over there as well.

Smileyriley94- The kindness of God https://wordpress.com/read/blogs/108545960/pots/1638

I just had my own gift this morning, a giant yellow and black butterfly stopped by to flutter around me and say hello.

And before I forget, thank you Irish procrastinator for including me in your quote challenge. So sorry I didn’t participate, I was too busy daydreaming and painting out in my garden last month. I did notice that a couple of quotes you used were on my website at one time or another, so you picked some good ones. Every time I change the homepage on my website (www.ourlittleredhouse.com), which is about twice a month, I always include a new quote. This months quotes were:

“Someone else is happier with less than what you have”

“Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace. Where there is hatred let me show love” Francis of Assisi

and this one is on our chalkboard in our kitchen everyday.

“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”

Happy blogging everyone and thank you all for the great posts and sharing. I wish I could include everyone I visited but my goodness they’re a ton of you out there. Best advice and suggestion I could give is to go out exploring yourself and you too will discover your own favorite posts. Warning though, you won’t have time for anything else; you can get a little lost in the blogosphere.

Please leave a little dish of water out for the birds and bees; they will love you for it. For bees and butterflies make sure to add pebbles and rocks to the water dishes so they don’t drown. And in the wooded areas, please follow all fire restrictions properly. Our forests are in danger around the world, so let’s take care of them. Stay safe, healthy and happy out there in the world. Happy June from all of us at Our Little Red House.

  2. As summer approaches I wonder if Ill not find the time blog too. Thanks for sharing links, popped into a few and am reminded in seeing the handmade cards that before christmas I want to come up with a unique “usable” christmas card, for example a removable ornament. Painted pots are always great for all ages, weve made many over the years. Here our second youngest graduated last year but headed back for a few classes this year and our baby will be in HS in a year…life just flies by doesnt it?

    1. I know, life is flying by, it would be nice if we get slow it done a bit during those really special moments with our kids. Great idea about that Christmas card, that’s a post right there. Summer time is going to be hard for me to post but I will try to keep up, just hope no one drops off that I follow. It is sad when other bloggers stop blogging but it can be hard to find the time and ideas on posting. We get alot of our handmade Christmas gifts done over the summer when we are up north at Our Little Red House. We don’t have a computer, phone or cable up there so we have a lot of free time to live like they did back in the old days. My kids do bring their little electrical devices like phones and ipads but we have no WiFi so they are basically used for movies they have downloaded. We are really off the planet up there but we have fun.

      2. I will have some pre scheduled post while I am up north. we go back and forth, never knowing what days we will be gone so I have planned ahead with writing posts if I don’t have access to a computer or phone. I can’t wait for Fall and Winter though, the summers are fun but here in Arizona they are a little hard…who am I kidding, they’re tough.

    1. Thank you, didn’t spend a whole lot of time reading posts like normal and I did notice a lot of bloggers I follow are taking a break for awhile or aren’t posting as much…it’s Spring, so I hope they are all out enjoying the season.

  7. I always love your post, and this one is no different. It’s such a great way to meet new bloggers, well they may have been blogging for a long time but new to me :):):) I have said a prayer for some rain, and I am thanking God for it. We have divots(for a lack of better term) they aren’t deep enough to be holes. But some are as big around as basketballs :):) They are good little “bowls” for water :):) I know it’s not piratical for every where but living here by the beach, I water will set on top if you have some divots :):) Thank you for sharing all your friends with us :):)

Thank you so much dear, for mentioning my post! Your mother’s day card is fabulous! I love it, who wouldn’t love it? Great job! And congratulations on your son’s graduation, proud Mom! Btw, I love your tiny red wagon, so cute.

    1. Thank you, bought that little wagon at the children’s home. It’s a great place to shop for unique second hand items and the money helps out foster kids. That waggon is really tiny so you can imagine how small those little flowers from my garden are.
